Research on Aussie #1

Assalamuaikum, ladies and gentlemen.

As we are focusing on Melbourne for our international visit, I have made some research.

UNIVERSITY

In Melbourne, there are three universities.

First = University of Melbourne, Parkville, Victoria, Australia

The University of Melbourne is a public university located in Melbourne, Victoria. Founded in 1853, it is the second oldest university in Australia and the oldest in Victoria. The main campus is located in Parkville, an inner suburb just north of the Melbourne CBD. The university also has several other campuses located across Victoria.

The University of Melbourne consistently ranks among the best universities in Australia and the world, especially in the biological and health sciences. The university has been placed top in Australia and 37th in the world by the Times Higher Education 2011-2012 rankings of the world’s top 400 universities. [source]

Ok yes we get the Hogwarts thing a lot.
For those of you who are wandering what people mean, our sandstone buildings & grounds are regularly likened to Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movies.
One in particular is the stunning dining hall at Ormond College!

Second = Monash University

Monash University (or simply Monash) is a public university based in Melbourne, Victoria. It was founded in 1958 and is the second oldest university in the state.

Named after engineer, military leader and public administrator Sir John Monash, Monash University was established by an Act of Parliament in 1958. When our first students began their studies at our foundation campus in Clayton in 1961, we became the first university established in the state of Victoria in over 100 years. [source]

The Caulfield campus is Monash University's second largest campus. Its multifaceted nature is reflected in the range of programs it offers through the faculties of Arts, Art & Design, Business & Economics, Information Technology and Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.

Deakin Hall was the first residence hall established at Monash University in Australia, in September 1962. The residence hall was named after Alfred Deakin, Prime Minister from 1903–1910 and father of the Australian Constitution.
